tornado twister

Meanwhile in New Jersey: Video of Twister Ripping Through Man’s Home Goes Viral, Take My Eyes But Not My Mancave!

Man versus nature. It’s one of the age-old matchups – and man rarely wins. While common sense would dictate that if a twister is sweeping through your town, you should take shelter underground, we also live in the age of social media and everyone has to share every goddamn thing, even if it means risking personal safety.

Take, for example, the case of a New Jersey man who filmed a tornado whipping right through his house. Mark Kobylinski was at home in Mullica Hill when a cyclone descended and wreaked havoc. Of course he captured the whole thing on video and posted it on Facebook, where it rapidly racked up over 1 million views.

“Long video but shows the Mullica Hill tornado [making a] direct hit on our home,” the 51-year-old captioned the footage. “Incredible damage. Our neighborhood has been devastated but everyone is safe!”

The video begins with ominous clouds in the distance, then quickly escalates into a terrifying scene. Kobylinski and his dog sought refuge in the basement when the wind reached “freight train” level sounds.

“Holy shit, shit, fuck,” the homeowner can be heard saying.

By the end of the video, he emerges to survey the damage. Siding, roofing and other debris swirl through the air. His neighbors’ homes are still standing but deeply damaged.

Hopefully, a tornado like this is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, but do yourself a favor if you find yourself in the path of a twister: hunker down and put your phone away. Your social media following will still be there when it’s all over. You, however, might not.
