Meanwhile in Florida: Man Shoots Neighbor Over Music Dispute on Christmas Eve (And We Thought We Were Fed Up With Holiday Tunes)

Holiday music can really get to you. But as crazy-making as those catchy, upbeat, jingle-filled tunes may be, we’ve never gotten violent over them. Then again, we’re not Florida Man, who has a short fuse and way too many guns.

The latest unbelievable incident from the Sunshine State involved Zachary Moncada, a 31-year-old from Boca Raton. While it’s unclear who was playing the music or what the genre actually was, what we do know is that Moncada shot his neighbor in the back over an argument regarding the volume of somebody’s playlist. The victim’s relatives somehow managed to contain the situation on the front lawn.

The victim was hospitalized and was reported to be in stable condition while Moncada was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

No matter how aggravating the music might be, there’s really no excuse for such a violent response. There’s also no excuse for foisting loud music on your neighbors. Earbuds were invented for a reason, people! Use them. And if your neighbor won’t, there’s always earplugs so you can tune them – and everything else – out.
