Meanwhile in England: Unruly Man Sued For Having Mannequin That Stares Into Neighbor’s Bedroom

Loving thy neighbor is easier said than done. Just ask the English couple who were forced to go to court after their neighbor taunted them in the most passive-aggressive way possible. By positioning a mannequin in his loft window that stared directly into the couple’s bedroom and ensuite shower.

Rosie and Christopher Taylor-Davies had lived in the quiet neighborhood of Wandsworth for 25 years when their neighbor, Simon Cook decided to raise the roof on his home. With Cook’s home being slightly uphill, his new attic windows now had a vantage point overlooking the Taylor-Davies love nest.

Fearing for their privacy, the married couple complained, but their concerns were quickly shot down by the neighborhood council. However, one person who did take the complaint to heart was their neighbor Mr. Cook, who decided to express his ardor by stationing a sexy mannequin in the disputed window.

Classic.

In case you were wondering (for the casting director in your mind), the answer is yes. The Taylor-Davies look every inch the part of priggish prudes, while Mr. Cook heartily resembles an overtanned scoundrel. So everything seems to track nicely there.

As these things go, after months of being watched by a life-sized Barbie doll, the Taylor-Davies sought legal action. Unfortunately for them, the courts did not share their sentiments that the mannequin was, in fact, spying on them.

“We’ve lived here for more than 20 years, but we might have to move out because of all this,” Mr. Taylor-Davies explained. “We can’t take a shower or get dressed without being overlooked,” he said, adding that their need to keep the curtains drawn was, “Essentially like living in darkness.”

That’s a shame. Living in darkness sounds depressing as hell. By the way, has no one in England ever heard of reflective window tinting?
