Meanwhile in Pennsylvania: Woman Rescues ‘Scared’ Animal, But No One Knows What It Is, Can You Figure It Out?

A recent discovery has animal lovers in Pennsylvania stumped. It all started when a woman named Christina Eyth noticed paw prints outside her door. She followed the trail, believing them to belong to a neighbor’s lost dog. Instead, the tracks led her to an animal that she could only identify as “scared.”

“I peeked outside the door and that’s whenever I noticed the animal on my left-hand side and it was so scared and so cold and shivering,” Eyth told NBC News. “All I could think about is ‘This animal needs help.'”

She was able to entice the animal – which she guessed was a dog or a coyote – into her basement. She called a local rescue organization, Wildlife Works, which transferred the animal to their facility, but they couldn’t figure out WTF this creature was supposed to be, either. (It kind of looks like a deer to us.)

“To err on the side of caution since they can carry rabies and since it might be a coyote, we can keep it here, get genetic testing done, and then kind of go from there,” Morgan Barron, a certified wildlife rehabilitator, told NBC.

For now, the unidentified being is receiving treatment for mange and is in isolation. Have an inkling what the animal might be? Drop us a line in the comments!
