Prince Harry’s Reconciliation Interview Draws a New Royal Timing Critique — Expert

Royal commentator Emily Ferguson has criticised the timing of Prince Harry’s latest GQ interview, which was published during the Sultan of Oman’s state visit to the U.K. In the interview, recorded in September, the Duke of Sussex discussed grief, the British media and his hopes of repairing strained relationships with King Charles and Prince William. Harry’s spokesperson later clarified that his comments about reconciliation were not intended as a swipe at his brother.

Expert criticise the timing of Prince Harry’s GQ interview

A royal expert has berated Prince Harry’s recent GQ interview and questioned its timing. Royal expert Emily Ferguson accused Harry of publicly airing his grievances in the media while the royal family was busy with the state visit of the Sultan of Oman (via Daily Express).

Ferguson questioned the Duke of Sussex’s account of his family relationships, arguing that he was presenting himself as the victim while portraying the Royal Family negatively. Harry said he wanted to reconcile with his estranged older brother, Prince William. Ferguson criticised what she viewed as a lack of accountability for past disagreements. However, Harry’s spokesperson later clarified that his remark about some people not wanting reconciliation was not directed at William or any other family member.

Moreover, she called out the Duke of Sussex for placing the blame for their fallout on his older brother, making it seem as though William is standing in the way of reconciliation. She accused Harry of taking a clear swipe at the future King for showing his unwillingness to reconcile.

Ferguson also questioned the timing of the interview’s release, which coincided with the Sultan of Oman’s state visit. However, sources close to the Sussexes said the interview was recorded in September and that GQ decided when to publish it. The timing also drew attention because Harry and Meghan’s Nottingham visit on October 15 coincided with the King’s official opening of the Welsh Parliament.

Furthermore, Ferguson accused Harry of using the media to gain sympathy and talk about a possible reconciliation with the royal family. She questioned why he was making these statements in the media instead of talking to the royal family directly.
