Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly received a warm welcome during their Nottingham visit, but the outing has prompted renewed speculation about tensions within the Royal Family. The couple visited a community recording studio and a community kitchen on October 15. Now, reports suggest their public appearance has renewed disagreements over their relationship with King Charles and Prince William.

Palace reportedly fears Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are building a rival court after Nottingham walkabout, per source. According to Now To Love, sources close to the situation described the response from the public as “incredibly positive” and claimed some courtiers believe the King could benefit from that goodwill. These claims have not been independently confirmed.

However, the outing allegedly flies in the face of the late Queen’s ruling that there could be no “half-in, half-out” arrangement. Royal expert Tom Sykes wrote on his Substack that it could be seen as a “defiant rejection” of the King’s letter calling them “akin to private citizens.” However, Sykes claimed that the couple wants to re-establish themselves as current royals, which is “precisely what the Palace does not want.” He wrote that it could lead to a “rival court.”

Prince William is reportedly among the most dismayed. “William and his supporters are telling the King that this has to be the absolute last straw,” an insider claimed. They said he can’t believe his father is letting the couple “bulldoze their way around Britain.” William is allegedly pushing for their titles to be stripped.

But the King is reportedly reluctant, as it would almost certainly trigger an all-out war. Sykes claimed that the Palace is nervous about even modest steps, such as removing the couple from the royal website, because it doesn’t want to look vindictive. Hence, the Palace seemingly “do not know what to do.”
