King Charles shared a few kind words about Prince William while hosting Sultan Haitham bin Tarik al Said, the Sultan of Oman. He reflected on their son’s friendship while appreciating Oman’s efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open amid the US-Iran conflict. These remarks come hours after Prince Harry’s recent GQ interview, where he opened up about his intent to reconcile with his father and brother.
King Charles praises Prince William during Oman state banquet event
King Charles recently praised the friendship between Prince William and Sayyid Theyazin during a banquet speech, describing their cross-generational relationship as one of the “few happier symbols of success.” He also continued to praise his elder son in the presence of the Sultan of Oman. Later, he also acknowledged Oman’s “noble efforts” to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, describing them as a great service to the international community.
“Our connections matter deeply and, in this regard, I have been especially delighted to see our sons, the Prince of Wales and His Highness Sayyid Theyazin, become joint patrons of the Jewel of Arabia Expedition,” he elaborated. This was in reference to the two royal heirs being part of an expedition that took place in Oman last year (via Independent).
This comment comes amid Prince Harry recently answering whether he felt sorrow over his strained relationship with King Charles and Prince William. “Yes, of course. I think from a family perspective — again, another massively relatable issue for so many people — sibling disagreements, broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent. That continues to come up with me the whole time with people that I speak to, so I know how relatable it is,” he said.
He admitted that past wounds may remain but believes that one’s mindset matters most and that it is better to let go of the past and start afresh. The Duke of Sussex also said that some people may not want his relationships to improve, but he is determined to reconcile with his family.
