A restaurant owner has issued a perfect response to a customer who left an unfairly negative review of the establishment on Yelp.
Yelp is known to make or break restaurants thanks to its user reviews, which range from the considered to the ludicrous, but Kansas City’s Voltaire has an exceptionally high score of 4.5 stars from 82 ratings. However, one customer was unhappy with her service, specifically that the company does not offer take-out… even though the restaurant clearly states that isn’t a service that they provide.
The following one-star review was posted on Yelp at the beginning of this month:
However, Voltaire’s owner William wasn’t about to go down without a fight in this instance, posting this response a day later:
Anyone who has worked in the food business (or any other business for that matter) knows that the old adage “the customer is always right” isn’t true in the slightest, and Voltaire certainly went out of their way to make it known. While they’ve almost certainly lost a customer (if the complainant would have ever returned, which is unlikely judging by her review) they’ve probably gained a fair few more due to their honesty.
Yelp must be a headache to deal with for restaurant owners, and it seems like this complaint was the straw that broke the camel’s back for this particular restaurant.
