Bungie Reveals Destiny Release Date

After much consideration, Bungie has revealed that Destiny will release on September 9th, 2014.

The announcement post contains the following quote:

There should be a stage in every product where the ludicrous is thought possible, where the team blazes trails right to the edge of the abyss in a hundred directions. Only through great risks are great things truly achieved.

Okay, so that’s a bit dramatic for a release date announcement for a video game, but Destiny is one of the most promising games of 2014. Developed by Bungie, the pioneers of Halo, it uses a science fiction open-world to go where no next-gen game has gone before. Bungie’s track record alone makes it a game worth following to release.

Previously the game was scheduled to release sometime during Spring, but Bungie has pushed the release back a few months to give ample time for polish. The beta has similarly been pushed back, opting for a Summer arrival.
