Former Royal Aide Tells Palace How To Handle ‘Desperate’ Prince Harry & Meghan Markle

Former royal press chief Dickie Arbiter has advised the palace on how to handle Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their return to the UK. The Sussexes made their first joint public appearance in Britain since returning on October 15, visiting several charities in Nottingham. Their visit prompted renewed discussion about their public roles, with Arbiter arguing that the palace should focus on working royals instead.

Ex-Royal press chief suggests how the palace could deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Former Buckingham Palace press secretary Dickie Arbiter has some solid advice for the palace to tackle Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Arbiter discussed the Sussexes’ UK return on The Daily Express royal podcast, Royals Unscripted, in a conversation with Emily Ferguson.

The former royal aide shared that Harry and Meghan are “desperate for recognition” upon shifting back to the UK. Arbiter also added that the Sussexes want to be viewed as public figures when they are, in fact, private citizens.

He said bluntly: “They’re determined to be somebody – public figures, is what they call them. They are private citizens, but they want to be public figures. They’re desperate for recognition. They failed in the States, which is why they’ve come back here.”

When asked how to deal with this issue, Arbiter suggested the royal palace should simply “ignore” the couple’s shenanigans. However, he also acknowledged that Harry and Meghan will not just “go away.” Arbiter added sarcastically that it is quite “interesting” that Harry and Meghan have returned now, after six years, expecting everybody to worship them. The former palace aide pointed out that the crowds were decent in Nottingham but certainly not a royal match.

He also urged the palace to focus its energies on working royals rather than worrying about the Sussexes. Arbiter referenced Spotify executive Bill Simmons, who previously called Harry and Meghan “grifters,” arguing that the palace had enough responsibilities without getting caught up in disputes surrounding the couple.
