Meghan Markle leaves UK with Prince Harry and kids amid father’s investigation, claims report
A friend close to Markle told HELLO! Magazine that Markle, Harry, Archie, and Lilibet went overseas amid Thomas Sr.’s child pornography allegations, saying that Markle is “really, really upset.”
They said, “She keeps on looking at Lili and she’s in tears, and thinking about all the children, the alleged victims. She has young children herself. It’s just devastating.” They added that Markle made the decision to take her family away way before the news broke publicly. The insider said that she wanted to keep herself away from the media and protect her mental health.
Despite her media cut-off, they mentioned that she’s still receiving messages from friends who have expressed sympathy for her. “But it’s just been an emotional rollercoaster for her. She’s in bits,” they added.
Markle issued a statement, addressing the legal situation surrounding her estranged father. “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” she said.
She also mentioned that, in 2018, the authorities had informed her about “troubling and disturbing allegations” against her father. However, she said they had also reassured her that they were investigating the matter. The Duchess of Sussex stated that many may now understand why she chose to keep her father away from her kids and family: to protect them.
“Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children,” she continued.
