Forgotten Island hits digital today

Forgotten Island arrives on digital platforms at 9 p.m. PT on Oct. 26 / 12 a.m. ET on Oct. 27. The film will be available to rent or purchase through retailers including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.

At the heart of the animated adventure are Jo and Raissa, voiced by H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, whose friendship faces a test after they stumble upon a gateway to Nakali, a magical island rooted in Filipino folklore. Their journey comes with a painful price as finding a way back home could cost them the memories that bind them together. Franco voices Raww, a lovable but inept creature.

DreamWorks Animation developed the feature under the direction of Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who also penned the screenplay, while Mark Swift served as producer. The film’s voice cast also includes Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga.

Critics and general audiences have responded well to the movie, with both awarding it 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Writing for Variety, critic Todd Gilchrist called the film “deeply felt and fully satisfying,” adding that “Crawford and Mercado’s odyssey is a wonderful cinematic experience.” However, he concluded that “for best results, watch it with a friend.” Forgotten Island has so far earned over $67.9 million at the global box office, as per Box Office Mojo, with over $36.6 million coming from domestic theaters and over $31.2 million coming from the movie’s international release.
