Taylor Frankie Paul addresses her Bachelorette controversy in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 trailer. Hulu released the trailer Wednesday ahead of the reality series’ return on September 10. The new season will consist of five episodes.
The trailer arrives after a difficult period for Paul and the Hulu series. Production was temporarily paused amid the fallout from a 2023 domestic-violence incident involving Paul and Mortensen after video of the incident surfaced earlier this year.

Taylor Frankie Paul & Dakota Mortensen’s relationship drama returns to center stage
The trailer shows Paul speaking with Mortensen during a FaceTime call. She asks him about a new tattoo featuring her initials on the inside of his lip. Paul also becomes emotional while discussing Mortensen in another scene. Other cast members weigh in on their complicated relationship.
The footage also shows Paul throwing objects at Mortensen, with one appearing to strike a child. Paul also took an extended break from filming after the video emerged. The fallout also affected Paul’s planned season of The Bachelorette. ABC pulled the season from its schedule days before its scheduled premiere.
The trailer then turns to Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt. Their friendship became strained during their time on Dancing With the Stars. The new trailer teases further confrontations between them that could finally explain what happened. Leavitt has confirmed that Season 5 will be her final appearance on the series.
The upcoming season premieres on Hulu and Disney+, and has five fewer episodes than its predecessor installments. Hulu has also renewed The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives for another 20 episodes. Those episodes are expected to make up Seasons 6 and 7, with production already underway on Season 6.
