Taylor Frankie Paul supports Doug Mason after candid interview
Taylor Frankie Paul is sharing her reaction to Doug Mason’s revelations. Mason, 28, discussed his romance with Paul, 32, during an October 13 appearance on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.
Paul commented on the Instagram preview of the interview, suggesting that the former couple’s relationship has been on the mend since their split.
“We became closer after all this. He’s a good soul when he opens up,” she wrote.
During the interview, Mason discussed his comparisons with Paul’s ex, Dakota Mortensen in 2025. “I could not escape the Dakota comparisons. I walked that day. … Everything that we had up until that point was genuine and true.”
Mason also discussed whether he was a temporary replacement for Mortensen in Paul’s life.
“I think over time I realized that I was the replacement for that two-month period,” he said. “And the reason that’s true is because as she says, the night that she left the engagement, she went back to Dakota.”
Paul addressed Mason’s comments by admitting to sleeping with Mortensen after filming “The Bachelorette”. Speaking on season five of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”, Paul said, “[Doug] was the one that I liked from night one. There was instant chemistry. The entire time, I didn’t think we were going to ‘get engaged,’ per se, but then at the last minute, he did propose and I said yes.”
Paul eventually ended the engagement after reconnecting with Mortensen and exploring her connection with musician Ben Lambert.
The season was canceled days before its planned March premiere. The cancellation followed the emergence of footage of a 2023 domestic dispute between Paul and Mortensen online.
