Praise the lord! Can you believe it? Women actually find a man’s average-ness fiercely appealing.
Two recently released studies reinforce this fact. It’s true dudes, these studies found that, not only are bald men considered attractive by the opposite sex, but that dad bod is as well. Not to mention, there’s an additional argument that dad bod is actually good for you!
So instead of begrudgingly opting for a side salad the next time you’re dining out, indulge in some hot, crispy french fries, dude! It’s better for you. (OK, that’s not true, but there are many benefits to carrying a little bit of weight according to researchers, which we’ll get to below.)
Also, considering the fact that two-thirds of men will experience hair loss by age 35 and nearly 85 percent will have significantly thinner hair by age 50, this is good news for insecure dudes who might think their receding hairline is keeping them from finding a partner. It isn’t.
So guys, whether the hair on your head is thinning or your body is nothing to balk at, fret not. Women, for some wild reason, still find us attractive regardless. I’m not exactly sure why that is, but some of these answers can be found below. Take a look.
Chicks Dig Bald Dudes
OK, so let’s tackle this bald topic first. According to research presented by Superdrug Online Doctor, women in the U.S. and the U.K. found baldness more enticing than discouraging. Over half of U.S. women (54 percent) and 41 percent in the U.K. went as far as to say baldness was “sexy.” So don’t worry if that man bun is making you lose your hair.
But, since it’s one thing to say you find it appealing and another to actually go out in public and date a bald dude, Superdrug Online Doctor ventured further into this hairless abyss, asking whether a dude’s baldness affects their dating decisions.
Again, not so much. Nearly 71 percent of women and almost 70 percent of men believe their hair loss had no impact on their love lives.
As for the degree of baldness a man has experienced, “minor” hair loss had nearly no effect on these dating decisions; 97 percent said they would still date the dude. As for somebody with “severe” hair loss? It’s a lot less appealing, but still encouraging. 76 percent said they’d still date a man with severe hair loss.
Participants were then asked to pick three words related to baldness. The top three words selected were “male”, “men” and, surprisingly, “sexy”. Encouraging, right? Even more, less than 24 percent of the words used had any negative connotation at all.
Chicks Dig Dad Bod, Too
Apparently, to women, dad bod is much sexier than jacked dudes who are married to the mirror, or so says Richard Bribiescas, professor of anthropology at Yale University. In his research, he claims that there’s evidence that older, slightly chubby dudes are much healthier, and less prone to ailments like prostate cancer than their thinner counterparts.
In his new book “How Men Age” Bribiescas argues that men reach peak evolutionary status in their older, dad years, opposed to their 20s and 30s. Bribiescas adds that the lower testosterone that comes with age and a few additional pounds actually strengthens a man’s immune system, making them 50 percent less likely to die than skinnier men.
He also argues that a man becoming more pudgy is evidence that a man is investing more time in their children than they are at looking for other women, which means these increased levels of fat make them more attractive to women.
Of his research, Bribiescas states: “One effect of lower testosterone levels is loss of muscle mass and increases in fat mass. This change in body consumption not only causes men to shop for more comfortable pants but also facilitates increased survivorship and, hypothetically, a hormonal milieu that would more effectively promote and support paternal investment.” So let’s keep on being unimpressive, dudes. It’s working for us.
So let’s celebrate with this:
