Kappa Looking to Improve its Image in the UK with a Leeds FC Kit Deal

Kappa, the iconic Italian sportswear brand that you were probably (regretfully) snapped wearing back in the ’90s, is making a comeback.

Announcing a brand new partnership with Leeds United F.C., Kappa has now signed a deal that will see them provide the official kit for the club for the next five years. The 2015/16 home kit is set to be revealed at an exclusive Elland Road event for season ticket holders on July 9th.

Chairman Massimo Cellino said of the deal: “We are very happy that Kappa will be working with Leeds United for the next five years.

“I already appreciate how hard Kappa have worked with us to get things ready for the new season in such a short space of time since they first came to Leeds.”

He continued: “These are exciting times for everybody. Kappa’s kits have been iconic in Italy for a long, long time and we are hoping to recreate that here in England. I can’t wait for the fans to see the new kit.

“Kappa are a big brand and the right brand for Leeds United. We both have great histories and we are both looking to get to that next level. This is another important move for the club and I would like to welcome Kappa here.”

Kappa are well-known for being a somewhat tacky sportswear brand, though they have recently produced some uncharacteristically minimalist tees and bottoms for golfing, along with providing Torino F.C. with the club’s smart maroon kit. Kappa has signed up with leads in the hope of improving the scope of football clubs they serve with their sportswear, though with Leeds having finished 15th in the Championship last season, it might not prove to be a lucrative decision for the brand.
