Meanwhile in Olympics: Robots to Serve Dinner at Beijing Games Because You Can’t Spell ‘Hospitality’ Without ‘Hospital’

Today in “What could go wrong?!” we bring you this story about the Beijing Olympics. Apparently, because of Covid concerns among the 13,000 people expected to descend on the city, robots will be serving dinner at the games.

Using a “closed loop” system, food will be delivered to divided tables via an overhead conveyor.

Basically, robot chefs prepare everything from hamburgers to clay pot rice in the kitchen, then a Squid Game pink dumbwaiter picks it up, travels to the dining area, drops from the ceiling, and opens like a flower, depositing a hot plate of food at the individual table spots, which are divided by Plexiglas.

Journalists have already gotten a taste of this remote delivery system at the Main Press Center, and it seems to be working smoothly. But, come on, how long until the robots rebel and people end up with plates of steaming noodles on their laps? Our junk hurts just thinking about it.
