Violett Beane Is Jesse Quick on The Flash Season 2!

The Flash is adding another hero to its ranks for the second season!

Newcomer Violett Beane has been cast as Jesse Quick, according to a report on TVLine. Beane has only previously acted in two films, Flay and Slash, both of which will be released later this year.

Jesse Quick was created in 1992 as part of the Justice Society of America by Len Strazewski and Mike Parobeck. However, writer Mark Waid added Jesse to the supporting cast of The Flash and she later joined the New Titans. In the comics, her real name was Jesse Chambers and she was the daughter of two Golden Age heroes: Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle. She was even a candidate to replace Wally West as The Flash!

For The Flash TV series, Jesse is being re-envisioned as “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Season 2 Big Bad (the not-yet-cast) Zoom.” Beane is slated to appear in multiple episodes throughout the season.

There seems to be an overabundance of speedsters on The Flash this season. Teddy Sears is playing the original Flash, Jay Garrick as a visitor from another world. And Keiynan Lonsdale will portray Wally West, the hero who eventually took over the Flash’s heroic identity in the DC comic book universe.

The Flash Season 2 will begin on Tuesday, October 6 on The CW.
