A new rumor surrounding The People v. Gorilla Grodd has sparked speculation that another major DC superhero could join the franchise. According to the claim, the upcoming HBO Max series could introduce the DCU’s version of The Flash, though the studio has yet to confirm his appearance.
Scooper James Mack shared the claim on X and wrote, “Possibly, actually, it’s 100% that we’ll meet the DCU’s Flash in The People vs Gorilla Grod.”
The post has drawn attention from fans curious about how the series might connect to the wider DC Universe. However, the reported appearance remains an unconfirmed rumor.
What We Know About The People v. Gorilla Grodd and Its Potential DCU Connections
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television are developing The People v. Gorilla Grodd as an eight-episode comedy series for HBO Max.
The story follows Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo, as he investigates whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. Jimmy Tatro plays Grodd, while Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault serve as showrunners and writers.
The series also features characters from James Gunn’s Superman. Beck Bennett returns as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover plays Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce reprises his role as Daily Planet editor Perry White. James Gunn and Peter Safran serve as executive producers, connecting the series to the wider DCU.
The Flash would be a perfect addition because of his long history with Gorilla Grodd in DC Comics. The super-intelligent ape is one of Barry Allen’s well-known enemies and has repeatedly clashed with the speedster. DC’s official character profile also identifies Grodd as an enemy of both Barry Allen and his successor, Wally West.
Still, DC Studios has yet to announce The Flash as part of the series’ cast. Mack’s post does not provide any confirmed casting details, so fans should take the claim with a grain of salt. If the rumor proves accurate, the series could establish a significant connection between Grodd and one of the DCU’s major heroes.
