The People v. Gorilla Grodd Rumor Teases DCU Return Of Two Peacemaker Fan-Favorites

The People v. Gorilla Grodd could feature some familiar faces from the DC Universe. A new casting rumor suggests that two Peacemaker fan-favorites will return for the upcoming HBO Max series.

Scooper @ApocHorseman shared the report on X (Twitter) and wrote, “EXCLUSIVE: Vigilante And Judomaster Are Set To Return In The People V. Gorilla Grodd.”

Vigilante & Judomaster are expected to return for one episode of The People v. Gorilla Grodd

According to the report, Freddie Stroma and Nhut Le each filmed their respective scenes in a single day, indicating their appearances in the eight-part series will likely be brief cameos. DC Studios has not officially confirmed the report.

Stroma plays Adrian Chase, better known as Vigilante, while Le portrays Judomaster. Both characters appeared alongside John Cena’s Christopher Smith in Peacemaker. Their reported return would bring two familiar supporting characters into the new DCU story.

Vigilante is a highly skilled fighter who takes the law into his own hands as a self-appointed crime fighter. His personality and unwavering loyalty to Peacemaker also make him a source of comic relief. Meanwhile, Judomaster is a trained martial artist who initially finds himself at odds with Peacemaker and his team.

The characters also have long histories in DC Comics. Writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez created Adrian Chase, who first appeared in The New Teen Titans #23 in 1982. He later debuted as Vigilante in The New Teen Titans Annual #2 in 1983.

Judomaster first appeared in Charlton Comics’ Special War Series #4 in 1965. Writer Joe Gill and artist Frank McLaughlin created the character, whose original identity was Rip Jagger. His comic book debut came more than a decade before Adrian Chase’s first appearance.

Meanwhile, The People v. Gorilla Grodd will center on Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo. The eight-episode comedy follows the Daily Planet photographer as he investigates Gorilla Grodd’s conviction for murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. Jimmy Tatro will portray Grodd, while Tony Yacenda is set to direct all eight episodes.
