Glen Powell’s DCU Casting Gets Great Insider Update, But He May Not Be Playing Who Fans Want

Actor Glen Powell is reportedly in early discussions with DC Studios for an undisclosed role. The news quickly fueled speculation that he could play the Batman. However, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently clarified that casting for the Dark Knight in The Brave and the Bold has not yet begun, although official auditions are expected to start soon.

Scooper @CartierFilms took to X, claiming that Powell has indeed been in talks with DC. However, the scooper admitted to having no information on whether the discussions involved the role of Batman. DC Studios has yet to confirm Powell’s involvement in any upcoming projects, and the actor has not addressed the rumor either.

Who else do fans think Glen Powell could be playing in the DCU if he’s not Batman?

If Powell steps into the DCU in a role other than Batman, fans have heavily pitched for him to play Michael Jon Carter, better known as Booster Gold. A comedy series centered on the time-traveling hero remains in active development for Max. Given Powell’s charismatic screen presence in recent hits, he has emerged as a top fan-casting choice for the character.

Powell has previously revealed that he isn’t particularly interested in joining either the DCU or the MCU. However, his preferences regarding the characters he wants to play could offer fans some hints about the roles he might consider if he ever joins the DCU.

Speaking about superhero roles, the Twisters star said, “I don’t feel, as a person, like a superhero. Once someone becomes super, I sort of kind of tend to no longer feel, I don’t know, the same emotional connection.”

Discussing the kinds of roles he prefers, Powell revealed, “…the stories that at least get me inspired, the stories that I’ve always wanted to be a part of, are these movies that you saw in the ‘80s, early ‘90s, and early 2000s, where it’s like these are truly Man Against the System movies, these David and Goliath stories where no one’s super.”

While Batman may not be an option, Powell could still be considered for other vigilantes who might join the Justice League. Characters ranging from Ted Kord to Green Arrow could potentially be on the table.
