Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Face New UK Backlash Over Australia Move

According to a recent poll, many people don’t want Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay in the UK but would rather see them move to Australia. The couple relocated to the country they left in 2020 in August 2026 and, since then, have been residing at a non-royal base outside London. This survey comes amid Markle securing another gig in the MasterChef franchise.

New poll shows how readers want Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to move to Australia

The Daily Express recently launched a poll, asking readers, “Should Prince Harry and Meghan Markle move to Australia?” The results were surprising, given that the majority of people voted in favor of the couple moving to Australia. 75% of respondents voted yes, whereas 22% voted no, indicating that they didn’t want to see them leave. Only 3% of voters remained neutral on the matter.

This news comes amid Junior MasterChef Australia announcing that Markle will appear alongside host Poh Ling Yeow. She has been invited to “guide the next generation of young culinary talent.” While some are happy to see Markle return to the franchise, many others were disappointed, believing that local chefs and home cooks deserve this opportunity.

In July 2026, Markle guest-starred as a judge on MasterChef Australia, a month before the Sussexes’ official move to the UK. In a statement, she revealed what appealed to her about the opportunity. She said, “What attracted me to the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes. It’s such a great show. I’m just really honored that I was asked to be able to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals.”

Recently, there have been reports that Markle and Harry, along with their children, have flown out of the UK for the October school break. This comes amid Markle’s father, Thomas Sr., being involved in legal trouble.
