Marvel Studios might be planning to drop a surprise reunion in Avengers: Secret Wars. A new rumor suggests that the Multiversal Saga finale could feature a reunion of the original X-Men cast.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, the original X-Men cast could return in Avengers: Secret Wars. The scooper quoted an X post from Kalshi Films, with a caption, “Yup.”
“The original X-Men will reportedly return in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ (via @DanielRPK),” the original post read. If the report is accurate, several actors from the original X-Men could return to the MCU after the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel has not confirmed the claim, and it remains unclear which actors or characters could appear. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen have also been rumored to appear as Professor X and Magneto, respectively. A reunion could also prompt speculation about other legacy cast members, including Halle Berry and Famke Janssen, although neither has been confirmed.
What we know about Avengers: Secret Wars so far
Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027. It is scheduled to arrive after Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for release on December 18, 2026. Joe and Anthony Russo are directing both films.
Marvel has not revealed the full plot, although speculation suggests the film could draw inspiration from the 2015 Secret Wars comic storyline. The story centers around Battleworld, which is formed from fragments of different realities after the multiverse is destroyed.
Doctor Doom plays a central role in the comics, and Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as the villain in the upcoming Avengers films. The MCU has already explored alternate realities in films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Deadpool & Wolverine.
Marvel is also developing a new X-Men film that is expected to introduce a new generation of mutants to the MCU. This has fueled speculation that Secret Wars could bring legacy X-Men actors together with the MCU’s newer cast, although no such crossover has been confirmed.
