The popular Marvel character Colossus might get a solo movie in the MCU instead of appearing in the upcoming X-Men movie, according to a new rumor. Kevin Feige announced some of the upcoming film’s cast in August 2026 at the D23 Expo, though Colossus was not one of the characters mentioned. Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier will helm the movie.
Colossus said to miss out on X-Men, but could get a solo MCU project
A new rumor on X says beloved X-Men character Colossus may get a solo MCU movie. This follows a remark from scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, claiming that Colossus will not appear in Jake Schreier’s upcoming movie.
In a tweet on X, user James Mack wrote, “Colossus will have a project of his own.”
In a Q&A Perez conducted on The Cosmic Circus on October 25, a fan asked whether Colossus will be in the upcoming X-Men movie. The fan stated that the X-Men movie will be inspired by Astonishing X-Men, writing, “He was very important in that run and is one of the most prominent characters not currently being rumored by scoopers.”
In his reply, Perez said that Colossus is “not on the current roster.”
The X-Men movie is expected to hit theaters on May 5, 2028. The cast that was announced at the D23 Expo includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Maya Boyd as Storm, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. Notably, Sink made her debut as Jean in the recently released movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
While speaking to CBR in July 2025, Marvel head Kevin Feige said, “X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie. Jake Schreier is doing X-Men for us. We’re very, very lucky to have him, and very excited to have him, and so we’re beginning.”
