40,000 Sign Petition to Have “Comedian” Dapper Laughs’ Show Cancelled

Unlike Dapper Laughs’ brand of flaccid (“just like my dick, woi oi!” the man himself would probably say) humour, here’s something that’s actually funny: the Vine “star” is currently facing the possibility that his show ‘On The Pull’ could be, er, pulled. But not in a “I pulled this fit bird last night mate, she was a worldy geezer, proper banter, woi oi!” kind of way. In a “his show could be pulled because he’s desperately unfunny and he believes ‘pushing the boundaries of comedy’ boils down to sexually harassing women” kind of way.

Yes, over 40,000 people have now signed a Change.org petition to have Dapper Laughs’ cancelled, with Dapper detractors knocking on the door of ITV, who run the show on ITV2 in the middle of their packed schedule of re-runs of Celebrity Juice and Judd Apatow comedies that everybody’s seen eight times before.

This news comes after video footage of Dapper, real name Daniel O’Reilly (we’re sure that he’ll be reverting back to that name soon enough when he finds himself in the unemployment line), surfaced online showing him performing a stand-up routine in which he mocked the allegations of sexual harassment and misogyny thrown his way by telling a female audience member that she was “gagging to be raped”. Yes, you read that right.

In the video Dapper tells the audience “you can’t rape women”, before walking over to a female audience member and saying: “She’s gagging for a rape. We’ll have a chat afterwards. Do you want to come backstage after? Bring two of your mates, you’ll need them.”

Dapper also recently announced that proceeds from his Christmas album, including single ‘Proper Moist’ (which you can listen to below, if you really want to), would be donated to homeless charity Shelter. However, Shelter quickly responded to this, saying that they would not be accepting donations from him due to his rampant misogyny.

ITV released a statement following the complaints made about their commissioning of Dapper’s show, saying: “Comedy is subjective and we realise the content of the show might not be to everyone’s taste. “e regret that any of our viewers were offended. However, as with all of our shows, the series content was carefully considered, compiled and deemed suitable for broadcast.”

Their opinion on the matter might change, however, when they learn that the petition has nearly reached the halfway point of its 100,000 in a little under a weekend.
