Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime Says “Meh” to Xbox One and PS4 Line-Ups

Meow. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has got his claws out, expressing his indifference to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4’s launch line-up.

In an interview with IGN, Reggie was asked about the Wii U’s future following the announcement of a price cut for the console, to which he replied: “It’s all about the games. The competitive systems have announced their launch lineups. I’m allowed to say ‘Meh.'”

He continued: “I look at our lineup of titles and I feel good about our lineup. We’ve got Zelda. We’ve got Mario. We’ve got Donkey Kong. In addition to great titles like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, I feel very good about our lineup, and I feel very good about the value proposition we’re putting out there for the consumer.

“We’ve got cloud technology that we’re delivering with Wii U. Nintendo TVii is all cloud-based technology. But the difference is, we don’t talk about the tech. We talk about the experience.

“We make sure that the consumer has fun with the game experiences that we provide. And so I think as you compare and contrast Nintendo with other players in the space, for us it’s about games, about the fun, about the entertainment value, and not about the tech.”

Reggie is right when he says that the Wii U has some great looking titles on the horizon, but unfortunately most of those titles will be coming in 2014 which, considering the PS4 and Xbox One are set to release in a couple of months, might prove to be too little, too late. However, the Wii U is a great console that deserves to have more people playing it, so hopefully the current sales slump the system is in is only temporary.
