Duchess Sophie has embraced a new role that could lead to a reunion with Prince Harry. As per reports, the Duchess of Edinburgh has been named the new patron of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST). Notably, AFPST supports a similar cause to the Duke of Sussex’s personal initiative, the Invictus Games. Hence, it’s possible that Sophie and Harry’s shared noble initiative could be the reason the two family members reunite.

Duchess Sophie’s new role mirrors Prince Harry’s work with the Invictus Games. As a result, it could possibly bring the royal family members closer than ever. According to Marie Claire, Sophie has become the new patron of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST). The charity honors wounded, injured, and sick soldiers and veterans through adaptive snow sports.
Interestingly, this closely ties in with Harry’s personal initiative, the Invictus Games, which also aims to support wounded and sick soldiers and veterans through various sports. AFPST has stated that it wants to provide participants with “a renewed sense of purpose and independence as they work towards individual and shared goals.”
The Duke of Sussex was recently in the UK to carry out a series of meetings and engagements related to next year’s Invictus Games. The coveted event will take place in Birmingham in July 2027. The organization held its first Invictus Winter Games in 2025. Hence, fans are hopeful that, with Sophie’s new role, there are high chances that she may attend a winter event and possibly meet Harry.
It is worth noting that Sophie’s husband, Prince Edward, has served as patron of the British Paralympic Association for more than 20 years. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have taken part in many of the Paralympic Games. They even traveled to the 2026 Winter Games in Italy, where Sophie also interacted with para-athletes.
Notably, the Duke of Sussex also has grand plans to take the Invictus Games global in the coming years. As per PEOPLE, the contest aimed at honoring sick and wounded soldiers will be held in Daejeon, South Korea, in 2029.
