President Donald Trump has claimed that fallen US troops had voiced support for his war on Iran. It was made before a solemn visit to attend a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for those who died. The president also addressed the soldiers’ families.

The president spoke to reporters on the tarmac on Wednesday before boarding Air Force One for Dover Air Force Base, where a dignified transfer ceremony awaited. “We’re going to Dover, some of you are going with us, to honour our heroes. And they are indeed great heroes, actually,” Donald Trump said. He called the ceremony “one of the hardest things to do as a president but it has to be done.”
Then he pivoted. Without offering evidence, Trump alleged that every fallen US service member had backed his nuclear stance. “All of them said very strongly, ‘We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon,'” he claimed.
When asked what he would say to the bereaved families, Trump shared, “All I’m going to say is, we love you. We love your child, and that’s what they are to them. They’re their children. There’s no games, no nothing. That’s their child. And all you can do is throw out your heart.”
Moreover, this is not an isolated incident. During the primetime address on April 1, Trump invoked two earlier dignified transfers from March and attributed direct pleas to grieving relatives. “Every single one of the people, their loved ones, said, ‘Please, sir, please, finish the job.’ Every one of them. And we are going to finish the job, and we’re going to finish it very fast,” he stated.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had posted on Truth Social comparing American deaths in the Iran war to fatality counts from past wars. Critics viewed the comparison as a clear effort to downplay the human toll.
