Donald Trump snapped at a female reporter during a press brief at the White House on Tuesday, after she asked him about the Iran war. ABC News’ Mary Bruce asked the president how he plans to end the ongoing conflict, which led to the heated exchange. “There are no signs that Iran is ready to stop fighting — so, what is the plan? Is the plan to just keep bombing until they give up?” Bruce asked. In response, Trump snapped, “How would you know there are no signs?”
The president continued, “Why, do you know something I don’t know? You don’t know what the dialogue is behind the scenes, that they want to meet desperately to try to end it, because they’re getting decimated.” He went on to chastise Bruce, saying that she belongs to what he labelled as a “fake [news] station.”
“You don’t get that when you listen to your fake station, but you don’t know, you don’t know anything,” Trump added, before Bruce asked about the possibility of new peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran.
The POTUS responded sharply again, asking, “Do you know something that I don’t know? Do you know something I don’t know?” Bruce swiftly replied, “Well, tell us.” Trump then retorted, “I will tell you, they want to desperately meet. And until they’re ready to meet in a meaningful way, we have no interest.”
This isn’t the only time Trump has lashed out at female reporters. Last November, he faced backlash for telling reporter Catherine Lucey, “Quiet, piggy.” Most recently, the president stormed out of an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker.
