Paramount+ & Jeremy Strong’s 9/11 TV Show Adds Underrated Emmy Winner to Cast

The upcoming Paramount+ Jeremy Strong show adds another Emmy winner to the cast. The show is centered around the events of 9/11 and the first responders.

Who has joined the cast of Paramount+ and Jeremy Strong’s 9/11 show?

Barry Pepper will join The Social Reckoning actor as an official cast member in Paramount+’s upcoming show 9/12.

According to Deadline, he will play “Coach, a former NYPD police officer and 9/11 first responder suffering from leukemia, a result of his work at Ground Zero. He is reluctant to sue the city but is convinced to become the face of the lawsuit in order to help other victims.”

Pepper is best known for his role as Private Daniel Jackson in Saving Private Ryan, Dead Stanton in The Green Mile, and Robert F. Kennedy in The Kennedys. His role as Kennedy earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor and a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in 2011.

His other acting credits include Crawl, True Grit, Newborn, Awake, Trigger Point, The Painted Bird, and the Maze Runner series. He was part of the crime thriller movie Bring Him to Me and Paramount+’s Lawmen: Bass Reeves. He is also credited as an executive producer for Trigger Point, 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story, and The Snow Walker, and a co-writer for the upcoming Western feature film The Horseman.

In the limited series, both Strong’s and Pepper’s characters are inspired by real-life people. The former will play Jason Smith, a class-action lawyer. The logline reads, “9/12 follows the human fallout from the September 11 attacks. Featuring students, teachers, New Yorkers and volunteers, this series will explore how they were affected and pay tribute to those impacted by the attacks.”

9/12 will run as a six-episode series and is executive-produced by Strong. The series is written by Tobias Lindholm and Frank Pugliese, who will also serve as the executive producers. The show doesn’t have additional cast, crew, or plot information, but it is greenlit for a Summer 2026 production.
