King Charles’ Beach Outing in Antigua Features Unexpected Request, Claims Lip Reader

A lip reader has observed that King Charles made a surprising request during his beach outing in Antigua. The news comes as the King and Queen Camilla wrapped up their nine-day Caribbean tour on November 4. Antigua and Barbuda was the final stop of their trip, from where they departed aboard the RAF Voyager.

Lip reader offers insight into King Charles’ interaction with a local during Antigua beach outing

A lip-reading expert has decoded a brief exchange between King Charles and a resident during his seaside visit to Antigua.

Footage from the closing stretch of the royal couple’s Caribbean journey shows His Majesty uttering a short, frustrated comment after finding himself caught in an uncomfortable misunderstanding. The unscripted scene took place shortly after he and Queen Camilla reached their coastal appearance. It soon became clear to him that the dialogue was not unfolding as expected.

As reported by the Daily Express, lip-reading specialist Nicola Hickling studied the clip of the King’s arrival. She revealed that he swiftly spun round before letting out the four-word question: “Where is the translator?”

For context, a clip circulating online shows Charles in conversation with a local man. Midway through, he suddenly realises that none of his words are getting through. He glanced anxiously across the busy group surrounding him.

The 77-year-old then started desperately hunting for someone to help translate and close the communication divide. Hickling’s breakdown of the awkward exchange shows that the monarch first murmured: “Oh gosh, where is the translator?”

A somewhat puzzled Queen Camilla then jumped in to ask her husband whom he meant. Turning back to the man to soften the unease, the King gently made it clear he had done nothing wrong.

Upon finally finding the translator, King Charles asked, “Can you translate? He doesn’t understand a word I’m saying.” With the language mix-up finally cleared up, the sovereign relaxed. He  turned to the man with a smile and said, “He will translate everything for us so we understand one another.”
