An expert has claimed that Prince George has been overshadowed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s comeback. After six years in California, the Sussexes’ highly publicized UK return has drawn significant attention. The timing of the move has reportedly shifted the spotlight away from the young prince, who is preparing for a major transition himself.
Expert call out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid Prince George’s milestone day
A royal expert has suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return has “overshadowed” a major milestone for Prince George.
Phil Dampier has claimed that King Charles’ letter to the couple served as a “warning shot” aimed at preventing them from overshadowing the Royal Family. According to the King’s statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to live as “private citizens,” with their activities remaining separate from official royal duties.
However, Dampier suggested that the Palace aimed the announcement more at the public than at Harry and Markle. “It’s really sending out a message – a warning shot across their bows, you could say,” he explained, per the Daily Express. “What they’re [the palace] emphasising is that nothing has changed as far as they’re concerned.”
The journalist added that the Sussexes’ comeback was unexpected, so he saw no need to address it earlier. However, now that they have returned, they could appear at charity events or launch commercial projects. So, Dampier emphasized that it must be clear that they are private citizens, not working royals.
The situation comes at a sensitive time for the royal family. September 8 is the fourth anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death. It also marks the first day at Eton for 13-year-old Prince George, who is second in line to the throne. Yet, the focus shifted to the non-working royals’ return to the UK, their security demands, and the monarch’s announcement.
The royal author noted, “It seemingly is a case where you give them an inch and they take advantage, and they don’t learn at any stage that they need to rein it back and be more humble and cooperative.”
