GTA-Style Game Set to Hit Fortnite While Fans Wait for GTA 6

The wait for GTA 6 might not be over yet, but Fortnite is going above and beyond for its fans by launching a GTA-style game, Grand Heist City. The mastermind behind it is the GTA-obsessed Andre “Typical Gamer” Rebelo. His company, JOGO Studios, is bringing the game to Fortnite in collaboration with KitBash3D and with funding from an Epic Games cash Mega Grant.

GTA-inspired map set to release in Fortnite soon

Grand Heist City comes with a GTA-inspired map and is set to release in Fortnite on March 14. According to Variety, it is a full-scale, mission-driven sandbox that “delivers the chaotic energy of ‘GTA’ through open play, heists and multiplayer mayhem in a living city.” This map will mark the first time JOGO is offering in-game purchases. The company’s leadership now sees the market as “mature” enough for experimenting with microtransactions.

In his conversation with Variety, Rebelo revealed that he began his journey as a gaming streamer who created tutorial videos for Red Dead Redemption fans. This is another franchise from Rockstar, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto. He further told the outlet, “We wanted to create a big experience, one experience that maybe people who are looking forward to ‘Grand Theft Auto VI,’ they can play this in the meantime.”

Rebelo added, “Or if ‘Grand Theft Auto’ is too expensive, maybe it does hit that $100 price tag, we have created a ‘Fortnite’-inspired ‘Grand Theft Auto’ right in ‘Grand Heist City.'” He launched JOGO Studios in May 2024, promising to invest more than $2 million into gaming development through Unreal Engine for Fortnite.

The upcoming game, Grand Heist City, marks the first time KitBash3D has collaborated with a UEFN studio. The platform has previously worked on huge assets in UEFN for Epic. Some of the IPs they have worked on include The Walking Dead and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Teasing the upcoming title, KitBash3D co-CEO Banks Boutté said, “Players get richer worlds, more ambitious ideas, and experiences that feel polished and fun.”
