Jenna Dewan shares her trick for fulfilling kids’ Christmas wishes
Jenna Dewan, who tries to attend the Baby2Baby Holiday Event every year, attended the event this year on December 10. At the event held in Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, she tried to spread some happiness by distributing warm coats, new clothes, and hygiene products among hundreds of children.
In her conversation with PEOPLE at the event, Dewan revealed how she had been managing to get the perfect gifts for her children. She shared that she had been using the Elf on the Shelf tradition for 12 years to find out what her kids really wanted for Christmas.
“We always write the [wishlist] on this elf shrinking paper [and] put it in the oven,” Dewan said. “It shrinks down and then the elves come and take it away to Santa and come back. We try to fulfill [and] see what their main wishes are and within reason trying to give them that.” She also told the outlet that they were done with most of the steps for this year.
The “Supergirl” alum shares her oldest child, 12-year-old daughter Everly Tatum, with ex-husband Channing Tatum. Meanwhile, she shares her younger kids, Callum Kazee and Rhiannon Kazee, with her fiancé, Steve Kazee.
During her chat with PEOPLE, Dewan also shared that Everly had now begun to understand the importance of giving back. The actor said, “Now that she’s older, she really does understand it. We’ve kind of integrated a charitable lifestyle in with our house and with her in general with her school. But she definitely gets it now.” She added that the young girl was finally starting to grasp why giving back mattered.
