Young People in the UK Think an Internet Connection is More Important Than Daylight

A survey has shown that young people in the UK believe that a stable Internet connection is more important than both daylight and hot water.

A survey of 2,465 young people aged between 18 and 25 in the UK asked them to state what they felt was important for them to maintain their quality of life, with an Internet connection ranking just behind freedom of speech.

70% of those surveyed believed that a working Internet connection was important, compared to the 64% who opted for daylight and the 57% who chose hot water. Freedom of speech came out on top with 81% of the votes, while the country’s welfare system struggled with just 37% of the votes. A decent sleep was valued as important by just 11%.

The survey, conducted by Hillarys Blinds, also asked those surveyed to state what they believed would help improve their quality of life, with holidays ranking on top with 34% of the votes, while 28% would prefer more sleep and 14% wanted a bigger following on social media.

While this survey could be seen as a sad indictment of our country’s youth, thinking about it, I’d probably struggle without an Internet connection more than I would without hot water. I mean, we’ve all got kettles, right?
