Captain America: The Winter Soldier – The International To Do Lists

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, in many ways, a very serious film, leaving the many fish out of water jokes behind after Cap’s jokier presence in The Avengers. But his first official sequel began with a very funny throwaway gag that showed a close-up of the hero’s “To Do” list, filled with movies, music and historical events he’s been told he needs to catch up on after his 70 year nap. American audiences will recognize the list above, but did you know the actual items on the list were different in multiple foreign markets?

Self-described Russian student Lucia Westwick has been accumulating screen grabs of the all the different lists on her Tumblr account, LET’S PLAY MURDER! (via Hollywood Reporter). Some items appear on every list, like “Thai Food” and “Nirvana (Band),” but South Korean audiences may have been pleased to see that someone Captain America has met on his travels insisted he also watch the classic Chan-wook Park thriller Oldboy, Italians might have been extra happy to see that he’s going to catch up on Roberto Benigni movies at some point in the near future, and Australian audiences may have chuckled to learn that he’s gradually working his way towards AC/DC, Steve Irwin and delicious, chocolaty Tim Tams.

Head on over to LET’S PLAY MURDER! for all the lists Westwick has accumulated so far, and ask yourself if perhaps Captain America should make it a point to watch Rocky before he starts downloading Shakira albums. Or maybe that’s just a matter of personal taste.
