Inmate Escapes Police By Going Full Indiana Jones

An Indiana man who was recently arrested by police pulled an epic Indiana Jones-type move to avoid jail.

Police in Porter County relentlessly searched for 25-year-old Michael Maldonado Tuesday after he escaped from from a squad car inside the jail’s garage the day before.

Here’s video of the daring escape. Watch as Maldonado runs like it’s his last crusade out the squad car and just below the closing garage door just before shutting completely. Of course the escape leaves police scrambling.

The reason police left Maldonado in the car? They were following procedure by securing their weapons in the garage first. I guess they should have made sure all the car doors were locked first.

Perfect timing and execution by Maldonado? Sure. But unfortunately, it didn’t take too much time for police to finally catch him.

After the garage-escape of the decade, police believe Maldonado stole a Ford Focus from a local business parking lot. It appears that led to his re-capture.

All of this resulted from an initial traffic stop. According to the Chicago Tribune, Maldonado is now charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended and two counts of resisting law enforcement.

Kids, be the Harrison Ford version of Indiana Jones, not the Michael Maldonado version.
