Who killed [Roger?] rabbit?

Poor United Airlines can’t seem to get any good press these days. First they were at the center of video that showed one of their passengers being beaten up as he was dragged off one of their planes. And now they’re dealing with controversy again because it looks like they’re killing enormous rabbits. Damn, United, what the hell is wrong with y’all?

A Giant Rabbit Died On A United Airlines Flight

While en route to Chicago from London, a continental giant rabbit aboard a United flight died inexplicably, according to various reports. The rabbit, named Simon, was “fit as a fiddle” and had a check-up just hours before its flight, according to breeder Annette Edwards, per The New York Times. When the hare landed at O’Hare (no pun intended) International Airport, it was found dead in the plane’s cargo hold.

A United Airlines spokesperson (who might be working overtime these days) put out a typical P.R. response on the matter with the following statement:

“The safety and well-being of all the animals that travel with us is of the utmost importance to United Airlines and our PetSafe team.”

They got a PetSafe team? Which pets are safe? Not rabbits, obviously.

Simon was three feet long at the time of his death and was the son of the world’s largest rabbit, Darius. If he was still alive, Simon was expected to outgrow his dad to become the world’s biggest bunny. Sadly, that won’t happen now. Rest well, gentle giant.
