Floyd Mayweather’s Son’s Statement After Domestic Beating

Blowing up on Reddit right now is the written statement from Floyd Mayweather’s son back in 2010 after a domestic assault left his mother, Josie Harris, brutally beaten.

Koraun Mayweather wrote down for police what he saw on the night of Sept. 9, 2010. He was 10-years-old at the time.

Although there was surplus of evidence in the case, including this witness statement, Mayweather spent just two months in jail, released early on a 90 day sentence for good behavior.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone considering Mayweather’s long history of violence. Yet the statement is very eye-opening.

Just in case you need a reminder of the boxer’s history of domestic violence, USA TODAY broke it down very well.

USATODAY

The first known incident came in 2001, when court documents say Mayweather got into an argument with Melissa Brim, the mother of his daughter, over child support and punched her three times in the face. Mayweather plead guilty to two counts of domestic battery and got a suspended six-month jail sentence, a fine, and community service.

In 2003, Mayweather was found guilty of battery for hitting Herneatha McGill and Karra Blackburn, two friends of Josie Harris, who is the mother of three of Mayweather’s children.

In 2005, Mayweather was charged with felony battery over an incident with Harris, in which Harris told police that Mayweather punched her, kicked her, and dragged her by her hair. Harris later recanted that statement during trial, and Mayweather was found not guilty.

In 2010, Mayweather was arrested for punching Harris and pulling her hair, and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and harassment. He served two months in prison.

ESPN’s Keith Olbermann also broke Mayweather’s history down in convincing manner, even pledging to protest the fight.

And not that anyone is perfect, but just in case you need further proof on who to root for — if anyone at all — just look up Manny Pacquiao’s humanitarian efforts. The man is a national hero in the Philippines, where he serves as a congressman.
