Tyson Fury has commented on Conor McGregor’s defeat at the hands of Nate Diaz on Saturday, saying that McGregor’s fellow UFC competitor Holly Holm showed “more balls” in her unsuccessful title defence on the same card.

McGregor tapped out against Diaz in the main event of UFC 196 in a surprising defeat, dropping his featherweight championship in the process. Now boxing heavyweight champion Fury has weighed in on the Irishman’s loss, suggesting that McGregor submitted too easily.

Taking to Twitter, Fury wrote: “Both top UFC fighters lost this weekend, Holly Holm showed more balls than Conor McGregor”. He continued: “The fighting pride of Ireland would of not tapped out so easy I would of went to sleep first. There can only be one Tyson Fury”.

McGregor was gracious in defeat, taking to Instagram post-fight, writing: “I stormed in and put it all on the line. I took a shot and missed. I will never apologize for taking a shot. Shit happens.”

He added: “I’ll take this loss like a man. I will not shy away from it. I will not change who I am.”

This isn’t the first time McGregor has been inserted into a spat with a pro boxer, as the former UFC champion previously commented that he would step into the ring with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather if given the chance.
