Watch The Live Reading of Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman Script

A decade ago, Warner Bros. could have produced a Wonder Woman movie with Joss Whedon at the helm as the writer and the director. Whedon already had a fan following from his cult TV series Firefly, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and he was widely regarded as the right choice to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen.

Of course, that didn’t happen. Whedon eventually left the Wonder Woman movie and it took several years to get back on track with a new script. Whedon went on to write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, both of which became two of the biggest comic book films of all time.

Earlier this month, The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach, California staged a live reading of Whedon’s Wonder Woman script with actress and cosplayer Jennifer Wenger playing Diana a.k.a. Wonder Woman in full costume alongside other actors and actresses. The Comic Bug and Drinking with Comics have now posted the entire Wonder Woman script reading online, and you can watch it below!

Joining Wenger at the reading, Curtis Fortier portrayed Steve Trevor and Adam Marcus voiced the Narrator and the God of War, Ares. Comic book professionals Scott Koblish, Rafael Navarro, and DJ Kirkman also got in on the fun and provided their vocal talents as well. Other members of the live cast included Debra Sullivan, Tracy Drolet, Kate Enggren, and Eddie Jordan III.

The reading even included a few musical cues and occasional audio effects to further set the scene for the live crowd. And as you can see from the video, it was a pretty packed house!
