The debut album from sister trio HAIM arrives this week, and the sister trio of Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim are ready to grab the world by the throad. All 11 tracks of Days Are Gone are now streaming in full over at NPR.
The album has been quite a long time in the making, with the trio resisting public demand until they were happy with the finished product.
“It took a lot of strength for us to say we wanted to wait,” Alana said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “People dangle a lot of stuff in front of you… there were times where we were like, ‘Shit, we should just put it out already.'”
Sisters Danielle, Alana and Este Haim grew up playing music with their parents, but locked in as a trio in 2012, and soon added a drummer, Dash Hutton, to round out their sound. In addition to touring with Mumford & Sons, the band has made several excellent festival appearances, most notably kicking our musical asses at this year’s Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza festivals. The live performances are a positively electrifying departure from the band’s understated initial track offerings, with shredding solos, fantastic musical interplay onstage and an intensity of execution that left thousands clamoring for more from HAIM.
