Gamescom 2013: Microsoft Hypes Gamescom with Xbox One Giveaway, Teases New Exclusive

Microsoft is getting ready to make a splash at this year’s Gamescom, and is already teasing some of its big features at the event.

As reported by Gamespot, Microsoft will be giving away an Xbox One console at least once per hour during Gamescom. It is unknown what the conditions are, but it is confirmed that winners will need to be on-site at the German event to participate. With a retail price of $499 and the convention’s length of five days it’s a huge financial investment by Microsoft, but not one it’s foreign to. It is the company that gave away over 100 Xbox 360s to press a couple years ago.

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer teased that a new exclusive will be revealed during the keynote he will deliver on August 20th. He event said that “Europe’s biggest franchise” will get some Xbox One love at the event. Rumors are aplenty on the internet as a result.

Despite the early troubles with Xbox One’s popularity, Microsoft is in a position to completely change things around with its removal of DRM and Kinect requirements. Stay tuned when we cover all the big news next week during Gamescom.
