A fugitive with seven warrants had to be wrangled on the highway after he attempted to flee from police in Kentucky. On July 22, deputies made a vehicle stop and realized the driver had given them a false name and date of birth. That led to them discovering that the man had more than a handful of outstanding warrants and that he would likely try to run if he had the opportunity.
32-year-old fugitive had escaped police in the past
Well past midnight at 3 a.m., deputies Drew Prusaczyk and Tanner Bazarnyj stopped a vehicle on US Highway 45 near Mayfield when the driver provided them with false information, identifying himself as a different person, according to a post by the Graves County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.
With some investigation, they were able to figure out that the man was 32-year-old Javarrius L. Flemons, a fugitive who had already fled from police several times and was wanted on multiple warrants in McCracken County. His most recent escape was in July 2024 when he had stolen a Dodge Charger in Illinois. While police later recovered the vehicle, it was missing its high-performance engine.
Bodycam footage from one of the deputies shows Flemons already being held against the door of the vehicle with his hands behind his back. The deputy tries to place handcuffs on him, but Flemons escapes from his grasp and darts across the middle of the highway. However, the two deputies grab a hold of the man and wrestle him toward the edge of the road, successfully capturing him before the video ends.
Police arrested the man and searched his vehicle, finding several ounces of marijuana, scales, and three cell phones.
Flemons already had seven outstanding warrants, including ones for receiving stolen property, gun possession by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana, and felony probation violation. Due to his overnight arrest, he was further charged with identify theft, two counts of assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, and more.
Flemons was transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being later held at an out-of-founty detention center.
