Some drivers who are caught speeding make some of the most outlandish excuses when they face the cops. One woman in Florida was flustered when a deputy asked why she was driving 90 miles per hour and she tells him that she was late to visiting her mom who has cancer. The driver didn’t have a license, though, which led deputies to search her vehicle. And that’s when they found many things that she didn’t want them to know about.
23-year-old arrested after cops find illegal drugs in vehicle
On October 8 at around 11:30 p.m., deputies arrested a driver, 23-year-old Tosha Cisco, and a passenger, 30-year-old Dillon Peterson, after a traffic stop on North U.S. Highway 301, according to a post by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.
Bodycam footage shows a deputy asking Cisco why she was driving 90 miles per hour in a 50-mph zone. The driver initially says she doesn’t know why she was being stopped. The deputy then asks if she has a license, but Cisco admits that she doesn’t have one on her. As a result, she’s told to step out of the car.
As she’s being detained in handcuffs, Cisco then tells the cop that she’s late for meeting her mother who has cancer. The deputies don’t flinch at that excuse, though, and detain both her and the passenger.
In part due to the driver not having a license, police say that they had probable cause to search the vehicle. One deputy is seen finding “a whole bag of pills” in the trunk of the car. Among the drugs they find include spice, THC oil and wax, numerous bottles of prescription medications, and most importantly, “homemade fentanyl pills disguised as Xanax.”
Cisco was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trafficking in fentanyl (4 to 14 grams). Meanwhile, Peterson was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, seven counts of possession of a drug without prescription, and one count of possession of cannabis sativa resin.
