We can understand that the call for fast food can be too difficult to ignore, but that’s no reason to do a hit-and-run. Surveillance footage from a Taco Bell shows a man attempting to drive his pickup truck that was towing another car on a hotbed through a drive-thru. But anyone looking at the tight, curved entrance should have seen that this would not end well, and now police are trying to find out the identities of the people involved.
Police looking for more information on hit-and-run at Taco Bell
On September 17 at around 5:15 p.m., the driver of a white pickup truck crashed into a yellow pole while trying to tow another vehicle on a flatbed through a Taco Bell drive-thru, as shown on video in a post by the Appleton Police Department on its official Facebook page.
The footage shows the truck pulling into the tight entrance for the drive-thru as it tows several passengers in a white vehicle that is being towed on a platform. One of the passenger is seen walking around on the towing bed. It stops for about two minutes as the passengers ostensibly relay their order through the drive-thru speaker.
But after their order is received, the truck attempts to make the tight turn toward the Taco Bell window, but the hitched bed is unable to follow suit. The side of the bed crashes into the curb and gets caught on the yellow bollards protecting the drive-thru menu display. Instead of going back to change the angle of the hitch, though, the driver forces its way through, knocking the bollard over and leaving large divots in the dirt.
The police department is looking for more information on the hit-and-run accident and are asking anyone with details in the investigation to call the agency.
Commenters on the Facebook story were surprised that the driver and passengers were in such a hurry that chose to go through the drive-thru in the first place. One wrote, “Why would you send a trailer through the drive thru? Takes too much to park and walk inside?”
Another agreed that the truck had no business getting through the tight space: “I think taco bell will recover, but what are they doing driving a trailer through the drive thru. Sir, you are already out of the vehicle. Just walk in. Oh my.”
