Jason Momoa Slams ‘Conan the Barbarian,’ Calls Movie a ‘Big Pile of Sh*t’ (Where Was the Warning?)

Rare is the actor whose filmography is certifiably fresh through and through. Even the best actors make some truly terrible films over the course of their careers. Jason Momoa is no exception, though perhaps no actor has been as vocal and explicit as he has regarding the dud in his filmmaking past.

In a recent interview with British GQ, the 42-year-old celeb really let it rip regarding his experience with the 2011 adventure/fantasy flick Conan the Barbarian.

“I’ve been a part of a lot of things that really sucked, and movies where it’s out of your hands. Conan was one of them,” Jason Momoa said. “It’s one of the best experiences I had and it [was] taken over and turned into a big pile of shit.”

Marcus Nispel, who directed the movie, which holds an abysmal rating of 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, admitted that he had misgivings about the final product as well.

“As a filmmaker in this system, you are a dog on many leashes,” Nispel told People. “Trying to get Conan done under those circumstances was the worst experience that I had and I was as unhappy with the result. I am happy though that none of this got in the way of Jason’s career path…I always stood by the decision to make Conan with him.”

It sounds like one of the issues Jason Momoa had was being typecast as a brainless brute. “It’s been hard because people always think I’m just this dude who plays [macho characters],” Momoa said. “But I want to be moved, I want something new. Things are changing, and even the villain roles I’m playing now are eccentric.”

Perhaps the hard body will get a chance to flex his acting muscles in the upcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the 10th Fast and Furious movie. But if those flicks suck, too, could you give us a heads-up before we waste our time in the theater? Thanks, man.
