Renee Zellweger Unrecognizable in True Crime Drama ‘The Thing About Pam,’ Thanks to Plastic Surgery We Haven’t Recognized Her For Awhile

Renee Zellweger is known for transforming her appearance for movie roles. She infamously went up 30 pounds to play the titular Bridget Jones in the franchise inspired by the British novels.

For her latest role as mom-cum-murderer Pam Hupp in NBC’s true-crime drama series The Thing About Pam, she opted for a padded suit instead, prompting media outlets to deem her “unrecognizable.”

But, come on, let’s be honest. No one has really recognized Zellweger since she underwent plastic surgery sometime between Jerry Maguire and Judy. While the actress has not confirmed she had work done, it’s pretty obvious from pictures, especially around 2014. Her face looks tighter, her eyes squinty-er, and overall, she just doesn’t look like herself.

Ironically, in the newly released trailer for The Thing About Pam, the subject of plastic surgery comes up.

“Now you can afford that facelift you’ve been wanting,” a woman says to Zellweger’s character in the trailer.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she replies.

“Well, your face does.”

Granted, in this role, if Zellweger is indeed “unrecognizable,” it’s more likely due to facial prosthetics that helped transform the 52-year-old Academy Award winner into a 63-year-old suburbanite.

“Oh, gosh, if you don’t recognize an actor or an actress in a performance, that’s a great compliment,” Zellweger recently told Vanity Fair.

Agreed, but…if we don’t recognize you offscreen, either, that’s even scarier than a woman who murders her friend for financial gain.
