Tom Cruise and Team Building Movie Studio in Orbit, Space Stunts Are Hot Next Frontier

For years, people have joked that Tom Cruise would be crazy enough to do a film in the final frontier. The Mission: Impossible actor is known for doing death-defying stunts, making him a part-time actor and full-time stuntman. Back in 2020, it was confirmed that the actor would be indeed shooting a film in space. The Mission: Impossible movies may be having a tough time living up to their namesake recently, but it seems that Cruise’s dreams of proving the validity of Dianetics might actually happen.

The U.K based firm, Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE) has announced plans to launch an entire film production studio in space. The company, which is co-producing the upcoming untitled space movie, has commissioned the Houston-based Axiom Space to build an inflatable space station. Sounds legit, there’s nothing that can go wrong here. The module, which is intended to connect to the International Space Station (ISS), is expected to be completed by 2024. In addition, the module also contains space for a sports arena and other live events. Yeah – you heard that right.

According to a press release by the company, the module (currently named SEE-1), is “intended to host films, television, music and sports events as well as artists, producers, and creatives who want to make content in the low orbit, microgravity environment. The facilities will enable development, production, recording, broadcasting, and live streaming of content.” While the company’s goal is to produce its own content, the studio will also be made available to third parties.

Tom Cruise is notorious for his intense training commitment to his stunt work, so this only seems to make sense. No word yet on whether Cruise plans to strap himself to an ACME rocket to prepare for the role. If anything, this news proves that rich people will do anything to entertain themselves, even if that means abandoning all of earth’s very real problems.
