Kandi Burruss is celebrating a major career milestone after an emotional year. The singer and songwriter became tearful while sharing news of her Songwriters Hall of Fame nomination, admitting that the recognition came at a time when she really needed something to celebrate.

Kandi revealed her songwriting nomination for the Songwriters Hall of Fame on November 5. She shared the news through an emotional Instagram video. “I just had to record this moment in real-time. I cannot stop crying,” she said.
The singer explained that she had just received a phone call informing her that she was among the nominees being considered. “That was the most amazing news that I’ve heard in so long,” she added.
Kandi also reflected on the difficult year behind her. “I’ve gone through so much in the past year,” she wrote. She said the recognition had lifted her spirits considerably.
Her emotional reaction came amid considerable public attention surrounding her personal life. “It’s been so much crazy stuff being said about me over this past year,” she explained. “Sometimes it’s real heavy. But I keep moving,” she added.
Although Kandi did not specify what she meant, her marriage had recently become a subject of public discussion. She filed for divorce from Todd Tucker in November 2025. The couple had been married for 11 years and share two children.
Kandi said the nomination reminded her that outside criticism could not determine her future. “What God got for you, is still gonna happen,” she told her followers. She described the recognition as confirmation that her efforts still mattered.
Kandi also expressed gratitude for being considered alongside respected songwriters. “To be named amongst people that I respect so much, it means a lot to me,” she said. She also thanked those who submitted her name.
Kandi ended her emotional video by blowing a kiss to the camera. “To whoever even thought about putting my name on the list, I appreciate you,” she said. The nomination also gave her mother a reason to celebrate.
